Hello Dave.

Posted in: Everyday

Hal PicSo, it is almost 5:00 AM and I have finally finished this stupid flash project; click “Hal” to view it. Actually, it’s not stupid. I am rather proud of it, though it is very simple. I think that is what I like about it. It is for a presentation in my graphic design class. It is the tenth anniversary of Flash, and so our teacher had us do this group presentation on a part of Flash’s history. We got 2001-2002. We decided to go with a Kubrick sort of look, i.e. 2001 Space Odyssey. My job was to take the research from my team members, and put it into a flash site. We exceeded the project expectations to say the least. Why did I ever suggest we actually use Flash for the presentation? It has taken me probably a total of 10 - 15hrs to complete this little assignment, tho I probably could have done it in 2/3 the time if I had just remained more focused. Oh well, the point is that I have finished it, plus I got some more Flash experience in. I really do want to make a no holds, awesome Flash site some day. It just takes so much time to make a decent flash design. Not to mention animating it all and do it well. Some day!

Stupid Apple

Posted in: Life Is Dumb

So, it is pretty official. My parents are getting divorced. My Mom has called appraisers to check out all the properties so that she and my Dad can settle all the financial stuff. It is really just weird. I remember as a kid having a friend who’s parents went through a divorce. I remember him saying it could happen to me. At the time I remember thinking “Never!”, but guess what, I was wrong. I can’t say that I am all that emotionally upset, at least not at the moment. I don’t know if it is because it hasn’t sunk in yet or just the fact that I am out of the house and have kind of distanced my self from the whole thing.

On top of all this, my Mom is now talking about moving to New York. Not the city, just the state. Albany I think. It just seems so random. She has a friend back there that she is pretty close to, and she has always loved the east. But still it is all so random. It’s like having a magic eight ball for a mother, she just keeps us guessing.

BONSAI BITCHES!

Posted in: Everyday

Excuse the vulgar obscenity above, but I just could not resist. I have started (yes I know) yet another bonsai tree. This is like my third attempt. But honestly, can one really hope to nail an ancient, Japanese, Zen art-form on the first try or two? I think not. Besides, this one should be easier. I have optimal sunlight and I have chosen a rather hardy plant for this one, a Japanese Boxwood. They can endure extreme temperatures, both high and low, and they don’t need a ton of water. I have already shaped the little guy as you can see. I will let it grow a bit before I do any drastic pruning. I will probably end up cutting it down quite a bit in order to get the trunk to thicken up. Isn’t he cute.
